Fraxel laser treatment is a new technique in skin rejuvenation using fractional photothermolysis. It provides many of the benefits of invasive skin resurfacing (previously performed with traditional lasers) with fewer side effects and less “down time”. There are many types of fractionated lasers available, but we believe Fraxel (the developers of this technology) is still the gold standard.
Pin point laser beams penetrate beneath the skin surface to eliminate old, damaged cells. This treatment stimulates the body's own natural healing process which replaces damaged skin with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.
We offer Fraxel laser for the following:
- Rejuvenation / anti-aging
- Smoother, fresher looking skin
- Improved open pores, texture & tone
- Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
- Improved appearance of acne scars & surgical scars
- Improved appearance in age & sun spots (pigmented lesions)
- Improved appearance in brown spots / pregnancy mask (melasma)
How Many Treatments will I need?
Your skin is unique. Your genetic makeup, life style and personal history all contribute to how your skin looks and feels. Treatment plans are individualised, although most people can see results in 3 – 5 treatments (4 -6 weeks apart).
Does Fraxel treatment hurt?
A topical anesthetic is applied to minimize discomfort.
What can I expect after the treatment?
You will have some degree of redness and swelling for 48 hours. Other temporary side effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking and a “bronze” look to the skin. Usually these side effects resolve within 5 – 7 days.
How do we minimize these side effects?
After each Fraxel treatment we apply a soothing mask and a complimentary Low Level Laser treatment is performed. This is a painless, gentle light therapy. Our clinical experience shows it reduces downtime and improves results.
