Scars are areas of fibrous tissue which form when the body heals itself following injury. In the skin, surgery or acne can also leave unsightly scars.
Scars are comprised of collagen deposited in a disorganised pattern. Some scars become raised and red (hypertrophic scars) or can proliferate beyond the borders of the original wound (keloid scars).
We’ve seen solid clinical evidence that scars can be managed very effectively with Fraxel laser.
Fraxel laser is able to precisely treat 1000’s of microscopic areas of skin using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin surface. Because Fraxel delivers energy in a fractionated pattern, bridges of unaffected tissue are left between the laser pinpoints. This “fractionated” resurfacing stimulates a more organised collagen structure, improving the appearance of the scar with each treatment.
What is the treatment regime for different types of scarring?
New / Post Surgical Scars
Clinical studies suggest that 2 treatments 2 weeks apart offer the best results.
Old raised scars
Results can be observed in 3 – 6 sessions. These treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart.
Acne Scarring
Results can be observed in 3 – 6 sessions. These treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart.
