Skin resurfacing in the process of regenerating the skin, stimulating the formation of collagen and fresh skin to create a more vibrant, healthy tone and texture.
Performed in a number of ways, it can involve different interactions reaching different depths of the skin. Often with the intention for dramatic improvements of the skin’s firmness, fine lines, pigmentation, scarring, however downtime would vary depending on the treatment being performed.
This is through the absorption of heat that penetrates deep within the skin to interact with the skin tissues to remove the outer layers of skin, plumping its texture from deep below the dermis.
With some to minimal downtime, these non-invasive treatments help to complement many other treatments due to the encouragement of new, firm and healthy collagen.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
WHO IS A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR LASER TREATMENTS?
Ideal for anyone who is generally aging gracefully or wanting to treat skin irregularities. The more invasive, or intense treatments are for those who have been looking after their skin well and require a bit more rejuvenation to their complexion. If unsure about if this treatment is right for you, a consultation with one of our Dermal Clinicians is recommended.
IS IT SAFE TO HAVE LASER RESURFACING WHEN PREGNANT?
We do not encourage laser resurfacing treatments whilst pregnant as the body can heal and respond differently based on all the hormonal and physical changes one is going through. However, there are other treatments that are less invasive with no downtime that would better suit for the time being.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Full results and benefits to the skin accumulate with treatments, however some treatments will have a visible change after the one session.
WHAT IS THE BEST LASER RESURFACING TREATMENT?
The best treatment would be dependent on your concerns, the desired outcome and the amount of downtime required. This would be gathered and explained during your consultation.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
With any laser resurfacing treatment, redness and swelling are common. The feeling of heat and tightness is what to expect during any downtime from treatments; however they should not last for more than 2-3 days. A detailed aftercare sheet is provided after treatment to outline what to do and how to look after your skin during this time.
